Few things are more annoying than clicking Play and getting… nothing. Roblox on Windows fails in a handful of well-known ways: the app never opens, it hangs on the loading spinner, it crashes seconds after joining, or it breaks right after an update.

If Roblox won't open or keeps crashing on your PC, start with a full restart, check whether Roblox is down, then clear its temporary files and update your graphics driver. If that fails, allow Roblox through your antivirus and firewall, fix the system clock and DNS, and do a clean reinstall. The ten steps below go in that order.

1. Full Restart: App, Then PC

Close Roblox from Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc → find every Roblox process → End task), then relaunch. If it fails again, restart Windows entirely. It sounds trivial, but a stuck updater or a leftover Roblox process in the background is a common reason the app refuses to open, and a reboot clears it.

2. Is Roblox Down Right Now?

Before touching settings, rule out an outage: from your side it looks identical to a broken install. Check the official Roblox status page, which lists the website, game joins, the app and other services separately. If something is marked as degraded or down, nothing on this list will help; wait it out.

3. Run Roblox as Administrator

Right-click the Roblox shortcut → Run as administrator. If Roblox can't write to its own folders (this sometimes happens after a Windows update or when the files were installed by another user account), it can close immediately on launch.

6. Let Roblox Through Firewall and Antivirus

Security software sometimes flags Roblox by mistake and blocks or quarantines its files.
