How to Play Fisch on PC (2026): Reeling, Rods and Mutations Explained

Fisch looks like the calmest game on Roblox: walk to a dock, cast, wait, reel. Then you notice the bestiary with hundreds of entries, the weather cycle, the mutation multipliers, and a rod list that stretches from a starter stick to rods that need a finished questline. Most of the frustration beginners feel comes from not understanding the few systems underneath.

To play Fisch on PC, install the official Roblox client for Windows, sign in with the account you use on your phone and search for Fisch. The whole fishing loop runs on the left mouse button: hold and release to cast, click the shake prompt, then hold and release to steer the reel slider. How does a catch work in Fisch?

Every catch goes through three phases, and each one is affected by different stats.

1. Casting

With a rod equipped, hold the left mouse button and a power meter fills. Release to throw the bobber; the meter position decides distance. The game grades your cast from "Meh" up to "Perfect", but Fischipedia notes the grade does not seem to affect anything afterwards. Don't stress about perfect casts; just get the bobber where you want it.

2. Luring and the shake prompt

Now you wait for a bite. The optional shake button appears on screen and jumps around; each click shortens the wait by roughly half a second to a second and a half, according to the wiki. Your rod's Lure Speed stat also reduces the base waiting time. Shaking is not mandatory, but over a long session it adds up to many more fish per hour.

3. Reeling (the progress bar)

This is the part that decides whether you land the fish. A horizontal bar appears with a fish marker and a white slider you control: hold the mouse button to push the slider one way, release to let it drift back. While the fish stays inside the slider, progress fills; when it slips out, progress drains.

Two rod stats change how this minigame feels:

• Control makes the white slider wider. With zero Control it covers 30% of the bar, per Fischipedia.
• Resilience makes the fish move less violently.

Rods, baits and enchantments can also change progress speed. If a specific fish keeps escaping, it is usually a stat problem, not a skill problem.

1. Start at Moosewood. New players get the Flimsy Rod automatically. Catch everything nearby, fill your bestiary and learn the minigame on easy fish.
2. Buy the Carbon Rod. It sells for 2,000 C$ at Marc's shop in Moosewood Village and is a clear step up from the starter rod.
3. Get a boat and visit Roslit Bay. The nearby islands open up once you can sail.
4. Do the Orc's quest for the Magma Rod. At Roslit Bay, the Orc gives you the Magma Rod for free once you catch a Pufferfish, which is common in Roslit's coral reef.
5. Read requirements early. Later rods are gated behind levels, questlines and bestiary progress, not just coins, so you avoid farming money you can't spend yet.

Players who only chase coins get stuck. Completing quests and bestiary entries along the way moves you forward much faster.

Money: mutations, appraisal and selling

Mutations multiply value

A caught fish can come with a mutation, which changes its look and multiplies its sell value. Fischipedia lists mutation multipliers from 2.5× up to 15×, and a fish can carry only one mutation at a time (attributes such as Shiny or Sparkling are separate and can stack alongside it).

The Appraiser is a gamble, not a free upgrade

The Appraiser in Moosewood re-rolls a fish's weight and mutation as if it were freshly caught, for 30% of the fish's current value. That price is why appraising cheap common fish rarely pays: you lose almost a third of the value on every try. Save appraisals for high-value catches.

Check before you sell

• Sort your inventory by value and look for mutated fish.
• Keep anything you still need for a quest or bestiary entry.
• Remember that event and weather-exclusive fish may not show up again for a while.

Weather, time and seasons

Fisch has a day/night cycle, weather and seasons, and many fish only appear under specific conditions. Some rods get bonuses only during the day, at night or in a particular season.

• When the weather changes, check the bestiary before you move on. Rare conditions are when rare fish and exclusive mutations appear.
• Match bait to your goal. Bait can add Luck, Lure Speed, Resilience or progress, sometimes more than a small rod upgrade would.

• Buying every small rod upgrade. Save for a meaningful jump instead.
• Chasing Luck while losing fish. Fix Control and Resilience first.

Settings for long sessions

Fisch is not a demanding game, so a frame cap is the best setting you can change. In the Windows client, set Maximum Frame Rate in Roblox's settings to your monitor's refresh rate or 60.
